1. To tamper with something is to touch or change something without permission.
Examples of use:

2. To tamper with something is to attempt to manipulate or influence something in a dishonest or corrupt way..
Examples of use:
a) The police officer was accused of tampering with the evidence at the crime scene.
b) He tampered with the jury.
c) The scientists tampered with their research findings in order to gain wealth and fame.
