Wake up and smell the coffee!

To wake up and smell the coffee is to face facts and be realistic: to pay attention and realize what is really happening.

Examples of use:

1. Wake up and smell the coffee: she doesn't love you, she loves Marcus.

2. News headline: Taiwan's textile firms wake up and smell the coffee.

3. Everyone who believes that formal tests for very young school children are a good idea, needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

4. How long will it take the bosses to wake up and smell the coffee and realize this company is in trouble?

5. It's time for the government to wake up and smell the coffee and understand that the public don't like their plans for reform.

Can you use this expression in a sentence?

Do you know someone who needs to wake up and smell the coffee?
