Phrasal verb: soldier on

To soldier on is to continue doing something, even though it is difficult or unpleasant

 

Examples of use:

1. News headline: Golfers soldier on despite rain.

2. Mr Evans' wife died last year aged 96: he soldiered on without her for another ten months.

3. We'll soldier on without him.

4. Farmers are soldiering on and gathering their crops despite the recent strong winds and heavy rain.

5. Local traders soldiered on through the recession.
