Phrasal verb: waste away

To waste away is to gradually get thinner and weaker because you are not eating enough food, or because of illness.

 

Examples of use:

1. You must eat: you're wasting away.

2. Michael looks thinner every time we see him – he's wasting away.

3. You'll waste away if you don't eat properly.

4. Our old dog stopped eating and just wasted away.
