Phrasal verb: poodle around

To poodle around is to spend your time doing things in a relaxed way, without any real plan or purpose.

Informal English.

This is a relatively new expression.

Poodles are a breed of dog, but it's not clear if there is any link between the dog and this expression!

Examples of use:

1. I think I'll poodle around at home today.

2. What are you doing today?

    Not much, just poodling around!

3. We had a lovely relaxing holiday: we poodled around and did whatever we felt like every day.
