To clown about (or clown around) is to behave in a silly way.
Examples of use:
1. Jack was clowning around on his skateboard and he fell off and broke his wrist.
2. The children love clowning about in the pool in the summer.
3. Don't clown around in the office during work time.
4. Stop clowning about and do your homework!
