Phrasal Verb: dip into

If you dip into a book or magazine you only read a small part of it.

Examples of use:
1. I don’t have time to sit and read this book properly so I just dip into it occasionally.

2. He hasn’t read all of Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye, but he has dipped into it.
