Phrasal Verb: stand around

people standing around

To stand around is to spend time standing in the same place, doing nothing or very little.

Also – stand round or stand about.

Example of use:
The bus was late this morning so I had to stand around in the rain for half an hour.

infinitive – stand around

present simple – stand around and stands around

-ing form – standing around

past simple – stood around

past participle – stood around
