Phrasal Verb: care for

mother gorilla and baby

To care for somebody is to look after someone who is young, old or ill and not able to take care of themselves.

Example of use:
Mrs Evans has just had an operation so her daughter is caring for her until she has recovered.

infinitive – care for

present simple – care for and cares for

-ing form – caring for

past simple – cared for

past participle – cared for
